Heritage series は、他者のもつ何気ない記憶に焦点を当てた作品である。記憶とは、その人が生きてきた証拠であり人生そのものである。しかし、記憶は徐々に薄れてゆき最後にはその人と共に完全に消え去る。私は、歴史に刻まれることなく消えてしまう記憶を救いたい。

ReCollection seriesでは自身の無意識下にある記憶を粘土とロクロで抽出し、形にしてきた。そうして生まれた形は、鑑賞者の記憶を触発する物でもあった。このシリーズでは、この手法を応用し、他者の記憶を立体化し、鑑賞者と繋げることに取り組んでいる。

他者の人生の記憶を時間をかけて聞き取り、少しずつ私の中に取り込んでいく。それらの記憶の断片は粘土とロクロを通して抽象化され、再構築されながら立体物として立ち上がる。そうして生まれた記憶の形は、鑑賞者の記憶を触発し、過去と現在を繋ぎ合わせ新たにそこに存在し始める。

焼成という儀式を通して焼き固められた記憶の断片は、永い時を生き続けることができる。私は、大切に思う人の生きた証拠を残していきたい。

Heritage series is a group of works focusing on casual memories of other people.
Memory is the evidence they have lived or their life itself.
But their memories gradually disappear as they age and completely vanish when they die.
I would like to save those memories that will disappear without being engraved in the history.
In ReCollection series I have given shape to my unconscious memories using clay and a potter’s wheel.
The shapes born like this have inspired viewers’ memories.
In Heritage series I try to connect my works and viewers by applying this technique, and making the memories of others three-dimensional.
I spend a lot of time listening to the memories of others and take them in little by little.
The fragments of those memories are abstracted through clay and a potter’s wheel and rebuilt to rise as three-dimensional objects.
The works of memories born in this way inspire the memories of viewers, link past and present and start to exist.
The fragments of memories baked through the rituals of firing can live for a very long time.
I would like to bring down the evidence that our loved ones have lived.
